Course Start

Runners and walkers will be required to line up at the starting line according to Pre Race Seeding. The race will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. (rain or shine). Remember, this year's race offers the ChronoTrack Timing System disposable B-Tag so your time is clocked according to when you cross the starting mat, not when you hear the starter pistol.

Runners with qualifying race times will be given bib numbers 1 through 200 and will line up closest to the starting line (see “Seeding” under Race Info). All other runners will line up behind the elite section according to their estimated course finish time (i.e., "8 minute mile," "8:30 minute mile," etc.)

Note: Awards are based on gun time, not chip time.

Walkers will be asked to line up after all runners.

Course Restrictions

Absolutely no participant is allowed on the course prior to 8:00 a.m. (EDT). Any participant on the racecourse before 8:00 a.m. will be asked to leave the course.

Any gas or electrical operated vehicle, i.e. motor scooters

ALL participants should be aware that each race has a course time limit and individuals MUST maintain minimum race pace (19:20 for the 10K). If youI fail to maintain this pace, you may be pulled from the course or be asked to finish the race on the sidewalk.

The Map

Below is a map of the certified 10k (6.2 miles) race course. The course was changed in 1997 because of the flooding of River Road. Due to the popularity of the "new" course, it remains today.
NOTE: The 2013 race will again turn right from Main St. to Preston St. and left on Witherspoon and Finish at Floyd St. beside the Waterfront Park.
